Aubrey Graham, better known as Canadian rapper and singer Drake, has been releasing hit singles for over a decade. If you’ve ever found yourself swaying to “Hotline Bling,” or turning up the volume for “God’s Plan,” then you know how talented he is. 

Born in 1986, Drake has not only climbed the charts in the music world but has also amassed an impressive net worth, standing as one of the wealthiest artists in the industry. Last I checked, he was worth well over $250 million. 

Always impeccably dressed, Drake has undeniably earned his title as a fashion icon, influencing countless fans with his distinct style.

Being a fan for as long as I can remember, I’ve followed his journey closely. From his music to his style, everything he does exudes a certain charisma. 

If Drake were to release a perfume or cologne, what would it smell like?  In the music video for Way 2 Sexy, he had a skit promoting his own fake perfume, Wet by Drake, and it had me in stitches. With musicians from his ex beau Rihanna, to Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Ariana Grande all launching their own perfumes, it’s not hard to imagine Drake releasing Wet for real.

What is Drake’s favourite cologne?

After delving deep, I found out that Drake’s favourite cologne is Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540. According to SCMP, Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the nose behind Maison Francis Kurkdjian, sent Drake’s manager a bottle of MFK Baccarat Rouge 540. Drake was introduced to it, and was smitten from the first whiff. 

Given that #baccaratrouge540 is the fourth most popular perfume-related hashtag on TikTok, it’s safe to say Drake has popular taste.

It’s bold without being overpowering and has a depth that feels almost reflective. For me, it’s a scent that feels like sunset.

Baccarat Rouge 540 opens with  jasmine and saffron, although these eventually unfold into a heart of amberwood. Finally, you’re left with cedarwood and fir resin, which ground the fragrance and give it a quality finish. 

Every time I catch a whiff of it, I can’t help but think that it’s Drake’s favourite cologne.

What are Drake’s other favourite fragrances?

While Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 is Drake’s go to, it’s by no means the only fragrance he wears.

I did a bit of research and found out that he also wears two more perfumes.

X by Clive Christian

Released in 2021, X by Clive Christian is reported to be another of Drake’s go-to colognes. 

I wasn’t convinced until I read the lyrics for Swagga Like Us:

“Walk into the room and you can smell the Clive Christian scent.” 

A nod to the brand, it’s pretty clear that this fragrance has a special place in his collection.

What’s more compelling is that I found out that Clive Christian is one of the priciest cologne brands out there. Given Drake’s penchant for the luxe life, it’s no surprise that he’d be drawn to a brand that’s also a favorite amongst the celeb elite.

But what does X by Clive Christian actually smell like? 

Opening with cardamom, ginger, and juniper berry, X has a spicy start. As the heart notes take center stage, I really get waves of orris and cedarwood, which gives it a woody depth. 

Rounding up X, the base notes of amber, oakmoss, and vanilla leave a lasting impression.

Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford

I’ve also seen that many believe the Canadian artist likes to spray Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford. Considering Drake’s taste in high-end fragrances, this wouldn’t be a stretch.

Tuscan Leather is another luxurious scent. With a rich, leather heart, complemented by top notes of raspberry and saffron, and a base of amber and thyme, Tuscan Leather is a sophisticated, masculine fragrance. 

Has Drake Released A Line of Scented Candles?

I’m as surprised as you to say that Drake has his own line of scented candles under the brand name, Better World Fragrance House. And in true Drake fashion, his collection screams Drake. 

For starters, the candles are named things like, “Carby Musk”, “Good Thoughts”, “Sweeter Tings”, “Muskoka”, and “Williamsburg Sleepover”. 

And then there’s the fact that the candles will set you back anywhere from $45-80.

I’m yet to try them myself – I just can’t bring myself to spend as much on candles as I do on perfumes – but the reviews have been interesting to say the least. The general verdict is that the scents are nice and clean, but not particularly distinctive.
