Versace released their first fragrance back in 1981. Since Italian fashion house Versace has come under my radar, I’ve slowly become the biggest lover of Versace perfumes.

I’ve sampled every Versace fragrance I could get my hands on and tested them for things like longevity, projection, compliment-getting and so on.

What’s the best Versace cologne?

At FragranceExplorers, we’ve had so much fun testing out all the different colognes on offer to find the 10 best Versace colognes. I’ve already added a few to my own perfume shelf.

See which fragrances are our favorites below.

1. Versace Eros

versace eros

Versace Eros is currently taking the top spot on my perfume shelf, and I have to admit, it’s swiftly become my all-time favorite cologne, let alone my favorite Versace fragrance. From the moment you lay eyes on the bottle, you’ll see it’s a high-quality fragrance. I wear it to the office regularly, and without fail, I get compliments every time. Who says you can’t bring a little luxury to the 9-to-5 grind? Minty and fresh, this one’s a game-changer.

Versace Eros Notes

  • Top: Lemon oil, mandarin oil, litsea cubeba, elemi oil, black pepper oil
  • Heart: Pomarose, geranium oil, lavender, sage oil
  • Base: Benzoin Resinoid, patchouli, vanilla

2. Versace Eros Flame

versace eros flame

Given how much I love Versace Eros, Eros Flame was destined to end up on this list of the best Versace colognes of all time. Where Eros leans towards freshness and exudes masculinity, Eros Flame takes a different route. It’s more citrusy, more spicy, and has a distinctive unisex appeal. It’s not the kind of scent that fades into oblivion after a couple of hours either. Eros Flame lingers throughout the day.

Eros Flame Notes

  • Top: Mandarin Orange, Madagascar Pepper, Lemon, Chinotto, and Rosemary
  • Middle: Geranium, Rose, and Pepperwood
  • Base: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Texas Cedar, Patchouli, and Oakmoss

3. Versace Dylan Blue

In fact, as I write this sentence, I just bought Versace Dylan Blue. For me, the combination of ambroxan, bergamot and grapefruit creates this really fresh, clean and aquatic feeling. It does have quite a strong opening, but it quickly reaches a less nuclear level, making it a safe bet for everyday wear. It might just be my new favorite blue fragrance.

Dylan Blue notes

  • Top: bergamot, grapefruit
  • Middle: black pepper, papyrus, patchouli, violet leaf, fig
  • Base: musk, incense, saffron, tonka bean, ambroxan

4. Versace Pour Homme

It’s slightly too lemony for my tastes, but I know several male friends who pull off Pour Homme. Projection and longevity are particularly strong; Pour Homme is definitely a fragrance you can smell all day long. It’s classy, citrusy and perfect for the summer.

Pour Homme notes

  • Top: lemon, neroli, bergamot, rose de mai
  • Middle: hyacinth, clary sage, cedar, geranium
  • Base: tonka bean, musk, amber

5. Versace Man Eau Fraiche

On the more subtle end of Versace’s colognes sits Eau Fraiche. Light, airy and citrusy, but with a more musky dry down, this fragrance is a real day-and-evening scent. And because Eau Fraiche fragrances have a 1-3% concentration, which is the smallest available, this scent is safe for all skin types.

Man Eau Fraiche notes

  • Top: Lemon, Bergamot, Carambola (Star Fruit), Cardamom, Brazilian Rosewood
  • Middle: Cedar, Tarragon, Sage, Pepper
  • Base: Musk, Woodsy Notes, Saffron, Amber, Sycamore Wood

6. Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir

Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir is an amber woody fragrance for men launched in 2013.  Warm spices, a prominent oud note, and a hint of sweetness give it a distinct, iconic smell. If you’re after a classier, more tame and mature scent, Pour Homme Oud Noir is the way to go.

Pour Homme Oud Noir

  • Top notes: black pepper, bitter orange, and neroli
  • Middle notes: saffron, cardamom, and olibanum
  • Base notes: agarwood (oud), patchouli, and leatherwood

7. Versace The Dreamer

Because The Dreamer is one of the least popular Versace colognes for men,  And why is it not as successful as fragrances like Eros? The Dreamer upends a lot of fragrance gender norms. Using typically feminine, floral notes, The Dreamer proves that masculine scents don’t have to be excessively woody. And given how unique this floral cologne is, you’re not going to walk past anyone else who smells like you.

The Dreamer notes

  • Top: Lavender, Mandarin, Clary Sage
  • Middle: Tobacco, Rose, Geranium
  • Base: Vetiver, Cedar, Tonka, Fir

8. Versace L’Homme

Versace L’Homme, while a bit too bold and herbaceous in the beginning, does settle down. Its projection and longevity are notably impressive. Embodying the 1980s, it’s a rich, smooth, and deep scent that’s both classic and commanding. The blend of herbs and carnation, paired with its quality ingredients, gives it a distinctively masculine character.

L’Homme notes

  • Top: lemon, petitgrain, basil, pimento
  • Heart: cinnamon, cedarwood, patchouli, sandalwood
  • Base: moss, leather, labdanum

9. Versace Santal Boisé

After a Versace cologne for special occasions? Introducing Santal Boisé. To me, this fragrance just shouldn’t work – it’s smoky and oudy, yet floral, herbaceous and even slightly sweet. It’s practically a blend of every type of fragrance accord. And yet, I quite like how unconventional it is.

Santal Boisé notes

  • Top notes: Sri Lankan Sandalwood
  • Middle notes: Saffron
  • Base notes: Cypriol (Nagarmotha)
